dparents.com is a community directory for parents who travel with their children, including worldschooling and homeschooling families. We curate links to resources, creators, providers, and community groups.

This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors and users of dparents.com.

We keep data collection minimal. Here is what we may collect and why:

We do not ask for or intentionally collect payment information, government IDs, or other sensitive personal data through account registration or profile features. If you choose to include such details in a free-text field like Ask, that content is stored as described in Section 4.

We use the data we collect only for the following purposes:

• To operate and improve the dparents.com platform
• To manage your account and respond to your requests
• To display your verified creator or provider profile, if you've claimed one
• To detect and prevent spam, abuse, or unauthorized access
• To send important service-related communications (not marketing, unless you opt in)

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

dparents.com may use cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site. This may include information such as pages visited, time on site, and general geographic region.

We use this data in aggregate — not to identify individual users — to improve the site's content and structure.

If we use a third-party analytics service (such as Vercel Analytics), that service's own privacy policy also applies to the data it collects.

Ask searches are handled separately from this aggregate analytics. When you use Ask, we store the text of your question along with an anonymous per-browser session identifier, your approximate location (city/region/country), your IP address, and the results returned, so we can generate your answer and understand what kinds of questions people are asking in order to improve Ask. Ask does not require an account or login, so we have no way to identify who submitted a given search. We do not use this data for advertising and do not share it for marketing purposes. If you'd like a specific search removed, contact us with the session ID or details of the search (Section 14) and we will delete it.

We do not display email addresses publicly on the site. Any email address associated with your account or profile is masked — it is never shown as plain visible text to visitors.

If a contact option is provided on a profile or page, it requires a deliberate action (such as clicking a contact button) to reveal or initiate contact. This protects both users and listed creators from spam and unwanted contact.

dparents.com uses an opt-in image policy. We do not automatically pull or display images from third-party platforms. Images only appear on the site when a creator or provider has explicitly chosen to provide one through their verified profile.

This means:

• No images of people are shown without their active consent
• Resource and video listings display text and links only — no external thumbnails
• We do not store or process images of children

If you find an image associated with your profile that you did not authorize, contact us and we will remove it immediately.

dparents.com is designed for use by parents and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

We go beyond legal minimums to protect all minors on our platform:

• We do not allow anyone under 18 to create an account
• If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly
• We do not display, feature, or link to content that puts children's or teenagers' privacy at risk
• We do not store or process images of minors without explicit parental consent

If you believe a minor's personal information has been submitted to our site, please contact us immediately at the address in Section 14.

dparents.com links to external websites, YouTube channels, social media profiles, blogs, and other platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those platforms.

When you click a link and leave dparents.com, the destination site's own privacy policy governs any data they collect. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external site you visit.

Platforms we commonly link to — such as YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook — have their own extensive privacy policies and data practices that are independent of ours.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Hosting and infrastructure providers (currently Vercel and Supabase) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements
• AI provider for Ask: When you use Ask, the text of your question is sent to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) to generate your answer, under Anthropic's own data handling terms
• Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or others
• Business transfer: In the event dparents.com is acquired or merged, user data may transfer as part of that process — you will be notified in advance

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

Anonymized and aggregated usage data (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely to help us understand site usage over time.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data including:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Deletion: Ask us to delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection: Object to how we use your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in Section 14. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls.

However, no internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to use strong, unique passwords for your account.

If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If we make significant changes, we will notify registered users by email or a prominent notice on the site.

Continued use of dparents.com after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
